You would think that if the Blues are able to keep hold of the talented midfielder beyond this summer, then there will be further opportunities for him in a first-team capacity.

A player with an incredibly high ceiling, it is likely that if he is a Birmingham player next season that this process of gradually easing him in will be continued.

20-year-old Josh Williams had a run in the first team during the early stages of this Championship campaign and will have gained a lot from that experience.

The right-back amassed over 500 minutes of second-tier action, with the young defender managing six starts, although he has not featured since September.

Another player whose exposure to the first-team set-up will position himself well for the 2023/24 campaign, the 20-year-old will be striving for a strong pre-season.

Maxime Colin has a contract that is set to expire in the summer and if the Blues, or the defender himself, opts to move on for pastures new, then there could be a big opportunity for Williams to come in and see more opportunities with the Blues at first-team level.
