Erik ten Hagwas delighted with the response and the Dutchmans attention returned to thePremier League, but Southampton, who have already sacked two managers this season, were able to win a point at Old Trafford.

After Casemiro was shown a red card in the first half, United were on the back foot and had to settle for a draw.

David de Gea thinks Casemiro was unlucky to be shown a straight red card in Uniteds match against Southampton.

The youngster attempted to continue and he returned to the pitch, but he was eventually substituted off with a minute of normal time remaining. He then headed straight down the tunnel and left the stadium on crutches.

Lisandro Martinez and Antony were almost in the technical area. Antony applauded Luke Shaw for a cynical foul that warranted a yellow card.

Southampton are unlikely opponents to bring out the siege mentality in Manchester United. United played with 10 men for an hour as both goals led charmed lives in an enthralling goalless draw.

Erik ten Hag approached referee Anthony Taylor on the pitch at full-time and they shook hands professionally. United will not be appealing Casemiros overzealous 34th-minute tackle on Carlos Alcaraz that signalled his second expulsion of the season.
